Amazon S3 joins the Vercel Marketplace

You can now provision and connect S3 buckets from inside a Vercel project, with short-lived OIDC credentials instead of stored AWS keys.

Source: Vercel

Vercel added Amazon S3 as a Marketplace integration today, so you can create and connect S3 resources without leaving the Vercel dashboard. Connection details are added as environment variables automatically, and the bucket shows up alongside the rest of your project’s infrastructure.

Authentication uses short-lived OIDC credentials rather than static AWS access keys, so there’s nothing long-lived to leak or rotate. Creating a new AWS account through Vercel comes with $100 in credits, valid for six months; linking an existing account works too, but linked accounts can only manage new buckets created through Vercel, not pre-existing ones. The integration also covers S3 Tables for Iceberg-based analytics and S3 Vectors for vector storage and search, and it’s available in v0 as well, which can provision the bucket and wire up the code from a prompt.

Why it matters: if you’re already on Vercel but need S3-compatible storage, Iceberg tables or vector search, you no longer have to set up IAM users and copy keys into environment variables by hand. The OIDC-based auth also means one less set of long-lived credentials sitting in your project settings.

The caveat: this is additive to Vercel Blob, not a replacement for it. Blob is still the pick for simple file uploads with built-in CDN delivery; S3 is for workloads that specifically need AWS’s ecosystem.
