Anthropic expands Claude for Startups with $7,000 in credits

Eligible founders now get a free year of Claude Team, $1,000 in API credits and up to $45,000 in partner discounts through a new Startup Stack.

Anthropic expanded its Claude for Startups programme on 6 October, adding a bigger credit package and a new partner-discount scheme called the Claude Startup Stack. The programme launched earlier this year and Anthropic says thousands of companies already use it.

Approved founders now get up to $7,000 in Claude products and credits: a free year of Claude Team for up to five Premium seats (worth $6,000 at $100 per seat per month, billed annually) plus a $1,000 one-off API credit. The Startup Stack adds up to $45,000 in discounts from partner tools across build, design, analytics and growth categories, redeemed with a code in the Claude Console. To apply, a company must have been founded in the last five years or funded in the last two, and sign up with a Claude Console account under a company email.

Why it matters: the $1,000 API credit only works on Anthropic’s own API through the Console, not on Bedrock, Vertex AI or other resellers, and it expires six months after it’s granted. If you’re evaluating Claude for a new product, applying before building out infrastructure gets you a runway to prototype against the real API rather than a reseller’s.

The caveat: none of this is cash, and the partner discounts depend on which tools you already use. The free Claude Team year is the part with the clearest value; treat the $45,000 headline figure as a ceiling, not something every startup will realise.
