Bitbucket Cloud sets a 15 November deadline for its old search API
Atlassian starts scheduled brownouts of the Bitbucket Cloud Code Search API on 3 November, growing until the endpoint shuts off for good on 15 November.
Atlassian confirmed on 26 October that it is moving ahead with retiring the Bitbucket Cloud Code Search API. Three endpoints are affected: /2.0/users/{user}/search/code, /2.0/teams/{team}/search/code and /2.0/workspaces/{workspace}/search/code.
Brownouts start on 3 November 2026 at 00:00 UTC, repeating every six hours and returning HTTP 410 Gone for progressively longer windows, from 15 minutes up to 5 hours. The API goes dark permanently on 15 November 2026. The replacement is a single new endpoint, POST /2.0/workspaces/{workspace}/codesearch.
POST /2.0/workspaces/{workspace}/codesearch
Why it matters: if you have CI scripts, IDE plugins or internal tooling calling the old search endpoints, they will start failing intermittently from 3 November and stop working entirely nine days later. The old endpoints still work outside the brownout windows until the cutoff, which is just enough rope to delay the migration until it breaks something at the worst time.
