ChatGPT Pro and Business plans now include monthly API credits

Pro subscribers get credit matching their plan price, Business teams get a per-seat allowance capped at $500 a workspace. Codex usage does not qualify.

OpenAI began folding a monthly API credit into ChatGPT Pro and Business subscriptions on 28 October. Pro subscribers get a credit that matches their plan price: $100, $200 or $500 a month. Business workspaces get $20 per paid Standard seat or $100 per paid Premium seat, pooled across the organisation and capped at $500 a month.

To claim it, the subscription has to be at least seven days old and paid rather than a free trial, and the ChatGPT account and the API organisation receiving the credit have to share an owner and an email address. The credit covers the Responses API, Agents API, Decisions API, GPT-Live, the Realtime API, the Images API, and tools like web search and Code Interpreter, but not Codex. Unused credit expires at the end of each billing cycle rather than rolling over, and requests fail once it runs out.

Why it matters: this gives Pro and Business subscribers a standing API budget for building agents or internal tools on top of a subscription they already pay for, without opening a separate billing relationship. Anthropic added a near-identical benefit to Claude Max and Team plans in October, down to the $20/$100 seat split and the $500 cap, and both companies carve their own coding agent, Codex and Claude Code, out of the pool.
