Claude Enterprise unifies chat and Cowork, defaults on 16 November

Anthropic brings its merged chat-and-Cowork interface to Enterprise plans, with admin controls for models and spend ahead of an automatic switch-on date.

Anthropic has brought its unified Claude experience, the merged chat-and-Cowork interface it gave Pro and Max users in September, to Claude Enterprise organisations from 23 October. A conversation can now start as a normal chat and move into a cloud-run Cowork session the moment a task needs agentic work, then drop back to chat when it doesn’t.

For existing Enterprise organisations the unified experience is off by default today. Anthropic’s support documentation is explicit: “it’s off by default in existing organizations and turns on by default on November 16, 2026.” Admins can switch it on early from Organization settings, or select “Keep disabled” to block the automatic rollout. Controls include an “Efficient mode” that restricts members to Sonnet and Haiku models, per-role model allowlists, and spend limits set at organisation, group and member level. Agentic work itself runs in an isolated cloud sandbox with network egress off by default.

Why it matters: any Enterprise admin who does nothing gets this switched on for their whole organisation on 16 November, with whatever model access and spend behaviour that implies for every member. Worth a look at Organization settings before that date rather than after.
