Cursor adds an API to script its cloud agent environments

A beta Environments API lets teams create and manage where Cursor cloud agents run in code, alongside agent-built shareable canvases and a jump to 300 repos per environment.

Cursor shipped three updates to its cloud agents on 16 October. The headline is an Environments API, in beta, that lets you programmatically create and manage the cloud environments your agents run in, instead of setting each one up by hand through Cursor’s UI.

Alongside it, cloud agent environments now support up to 300 repositories each and load five times faster when they are large. Cursor also added canvases: interactive outputs an agent can build while it works, shareable with a teammate over a link.

Why it matters: if you run Cursor’s cloud agents against a large monorepo, or manage environments for a team rather than yourself, you can now define that setup in code and check it in, rather than clicking through settings every time. The 300-repo ceiling removes a real constraint for bigger codebases.

The caveat: the Environments API is in beta, so the interface is likely to change before it settles.
