Cursor opens its Origin code host to an app marketplace

Origin, Cursor's GitHub-style host built for AI agents, now connects to over 20 tools for deployment, CI and security, and anyone can submit an app.

Cursor added an app marketplace to Origin, its own code-hosting platform, on 13 October, and opened it to public submissions from any team building developer tools.

Origin launched in August as a Git-compatible alternative to GitHub, built around the idea that AI agents now generate a large share of commits and pull requests. The marketplace ships with more than 20 integrations: Cloudflare, Netlify, Render, Spacelift and Vercel for deployments, Buildkite, CircleCI, CloudBees, Depot, EngFlow, Namespace and RWX for CI, CodeRabbit, Greptile and Tenki for code review, Artemis Security, Semgrep, Socket Security and Upwind for security, Sentry for monitoring, and Linear for project management. A third party builds against Origin’s API, using JWT authentication and webhook events, then submits the app with metadata and a demo video for review before it’s listed.

Why it matters: a code host is only as useful as what plugs into it. Origin launching with its own CI, deployment and security hooks, rather than just Git compatibility, is Cursor treating it as a real platform to build on, not a GitHub mirror.

The caveat: Origin is still in early beta. This only matters if you’ve actually moved repositories there; most teams reading this are still hosted on GitHub or GitLab.
