Node.js schedules a high-severity patch for 21 October
A pre-announced security release will land across the 22.x, 24.x and 26.x lines, with no CVE details published yet.
Node.js published a pre-release security announcement on 14 October for a fix landing on or around Wednesday 21 October. It covers all three release lines currently in support: 22.x, 24.x and 26.x.
The advisory does not name a CVE or describe the bug yet, standard practice for Node’s pre-announcements, but it does say the highest severity issue being fixed is rated HIGH. The project points anyone who wants the details as they land to the nodejs-sec mailing list, and reminds users that versions already past end-of-life will not get the fix.
Why it matters: this touches every supported Node release line at once, so it is worth putting 21 October in the diary now rather than finding out from a dependency scanner next month. If you are still running a line that has reached end-of-life, this is the release that will not reach you.
