OpenAI doubles ChatGPT Pro and Business Premium usage limits

OpenAI cancels a planned cut to Pro 200 and doubles Work and Codex usage across Pro 100, Pro 200 and Pro 500, plus Business Premium, with immediate effect.

OpenAI doubled usage limits for every ChatGPT Pro tier and for Business Premium on 29 October, according to Thibault Sottiaux, who leads ChatGPT and Codex at OpenAI. The change covers all three Pro tiers, priced at $100, $200 and $500 a month.

The doubling replaces a cut OpenAI had scheduled for the same day: Pro 200 subscribers were due to see their included Work and Codex usage reduced. Sottiaux said that cut is cancelled, Pro 200’s usage “will stay the same” instead of shrinking, and Pro 100 and Pro 500 now get twice their previous allowance. OpenAI doesn’t publish the underlying numeric limits for any tier, so there’s no multiplier to check this against directly.

Why it matters: if you run Codex through a Pro subscription rather than paying per token through the API, your effective budget for agentic coding work just grew, and a cut that would have shrunk it was scrapped before it took effect.

The caveat: without published figures, you’ll only notice the change by using it, and OpenAI could revise it again without much warning.
