Vercel CLI can now set and pause spend budgets

A new vercel budgets command lets teams view spend, set a cap, and halt production deployments at 100% straight from the terminal, no dashboard needed.

Vercel added spend management to its CLI on 23 October. Running vercel budgets shows a team’s current spend and active budget, the same On-Demand Budget that already lives in billing settings, without opening the dashboard.

vercel budgets set --amount 200 --pause sets a cap and, with the flag, pauses every production deployment on the team once spend hits 100% of it. vercel budgets alerts lists the alert history, filterable with --since, --until, --limit and --json, and vercel budgets remove deletes a budget. Managing a budget needs the Owner or Billing role. It is free on Pro teams and on Enterprise’s Flexible Commitment plan.

vercel budgets alerts --json

Why it matters: a runaway bill is usually caught after the fact, in a dashboard nobody checks until the invoice arrives. Putting the cap and the alert history in the CLI means a script, a CI job or an agent can check and enforce spend limits as part of a pipeline, not as a separate manual step.
