Vercel CLI can now deploy without an account

A new --temporary flag ships a shareable URL on a tmp.now domain that expires in an hour unless someone claims it, no sign-up required.

Source: Vercel

Vercel published a changelog entry on 22 October adding a --temporary flag to its CLI. Run vercel deploy --temporary in a project, or point it at a single file with vercel deploy --temporary prototype.html, and it compiles locally and returns a shareable URL with no account or login needed.

The deployment lives on a dedicated tmp.now domain rather than vercel.app, and expires after one hour unless someone opens the claim link and signs up or logs in to keep it. Vercel’s own advice is to treat that claim link as a secret: anyone who has it can take ownership of the deployment.

vercel deploy --temporary prototype.html

Why it matters: sharing a quick prototype or a one-off HTML file used to mean creating a project and an account first. This drops that step entirely, which matters for anyone demoing something fast, pairing with someone who has never touched Vercel, or just testing an idea before deciding whether it is worth a real deployment.

The caveat: an hour is not long, and the deployment disappears for good if nobody claims it in time, so it is not a substitute for actual hosting.
