Vercel ships an OpenCode plugin with deploy and env slash commands

The plugin adds Vercel skills, three specialist agents and a connected MCP server to OpenCode 2, so an agent can deploy and manage env vars without leaving the chat.

Vercel published a plugin for OpenCode 2 on 27 October that gives a coding agent built-in knowledge of Vercel’s platform instead of leaving it to guess at the CLI or API.

The plugin bundles skills covering the AI SDK, Vercel Functions and Workflow, plus three specialist agents for deployment, performance optimisation and AI application design. Two slash commands do the practical work: /vercel:deploy ships a project, and /vercel:env manages environment variables. After installing it, you connect it by signing in to your Vercel account from OpenCode’s plugin menu, which wires up a Vercel MCP server for the agent to call.

/vercel:deploy
/vercel:env

Why it matters: if you’re already running OpenCode as your coding agent, this removes a layer of prompting and guesswork around deploys and config. The agent gets the same API knowledge and MCP access a human would reach for in the dashboard, inside the same session as the code change.

The caveat: it needs OpenCode 2 specifically, and it’s built around Vercel’s own MCP server rather than a provider-neutral tool, so it only helps if your project is already deployed there.
