Vite+ adds private npm registry support in its 1.2.0 release
The unified Vite, Vitest and Rolldown toolchain from Cloudflare-owned VoidZero can now authenticate against private registries, and its POSIX shell setup went from 1.5 seconds to 6 milliseconds.
VoidZero shipped Vite+ 1.2.0 on 14 October. Vite+ is the single vp CLI, built by the Vite creator’s team at Cloudflare, that wraps Node version management, package installs, linting, formatting, testing and bundling around Vite 8, Vitest 5, Rolldown, Oxlint and Oxfmt. It reached a stable 1.0 in September and has nearly two million weekly downloads.
The headline change in 1.2.0 is support for authenticated private npm registries, closing off one of the obvious reasons a team couldn’t yet move onto vp. The release also adds SHA-512 integrity checks on downloaded installer archives, a progress bar for vp upgrade, and a rewritten vp run summary that reports cache hit rate and successful task count instead of just failures.
vp run --last-details # shows why a task skipped the cache
Buried in the fixes: sourcing the environment script on POSIX shells with a long PATH dropped from about 1.5 seconds to 6 milliseconds, which matters every time a shell starts a new session.
Why it matters: private registry support is the kind of gap that quietly rules a tool out for any company running Verdaccio, Artifactory or GitHub Packages. With it gone, teams evaluating a single toolchain instead of separately maintained Vite, Vitest, ESLint and Prettier configs have one less reason to wait.
