Cloudflare open-sources Void, a full-stack SDK for Vite apps
A new SDK, CLI and self-hosted platform let a Vite app infer and provision its own databases, queues and AI bindings, then deploy straight to Workers.
Cloudflare open-sourced Void on 15 October: an SDK, a CLI and a self-hosted platform for building full-stack apps on top of Vite and deploying them straight to Workers.
You install it as a Vite plugin, write server routes and database access alongside your client code, and Void infers what each route needs, a database, a queue, an AI binding, then provisions it on deploy rather than making you hand-write bindings in a config file. Types carry from the database through to the UI. It comes from the VoidZero team (the people behind Vite, Vitest, Oxc and Rolldown, bundled together as Vite+), who joined Cloudflare earlier this year; Cloudflare says that move is why the platform got open-sourced instead of staying proprietary.
import { voidPlugin } from 'void'
import { voidReact } from '@void/react/plugin'
npm install void
void deploy
void connect https://api.orange-company.dev
Why it matters: if you’re already on Vite, the gap between “a form that calls an API route” and “a form backed by a real database with no wrangler.toml to hand-edit” just got smaller. void connect also means teams who don’t want Cloudflare’s own dashboard can point the CLI at a self-hosted Void Platform instead.
The caveat: this ships today as a brand-new open-source project, not a mature framework. It also only deploys to Cloudflare Workers, so it’s a fit for Vite apps already heading that way, not a general-purpose replacement for Next.js or Remix.
