pgAdmin 4 v9.19 adds a statistics node and editable views

The Postgres admin tool's latest release lets you edit data through simple views and export query results as JSON or XML, alongside fixes for 15 security bugs.

pgAdmin 4 v9.19 shipped on 29 October. It is the open-source GUI people reach for to browse and manage Postgres databases without writing everything in raw psql. The release adds a Statistics node for creating and managing extended statistics, lets you edit data directly through simple auto-updatable views in View/Edit Data rather than only base tables, and lets Query Tool results be saved as JSON or XML as well as CSV, with a choice of file encoding and an optional “copy with headers” mode.

Smaller changes touch the SQL editor too: a keyboard shortcut to duplicate the current line or selection, and the option to close or confirm dialogs with Escape and Enter instead of reaching for the mouse. The release also patches 15 security bugs, including an OS command injection in the Import/Export Data tool and several authentication bypasses in server mode, tracked as CVE-2026-116238 through CVE-2026-116252.

Why it matters: if you manage Postgres through pgAdmin day to day, editable views and JSON/XML export close two gaps that used to send people to raw SQL or a separate script. The security fixes are reason enough to upgrade on their own, even with no confirmed exploit in the wild.
