Vercel CLI adds a domain-buying workflow built for agents

Agents can now search, price and buy a domain through the Vercel CLI, but a non-interactive buy call stops short of spending money without a human confirming.

Vercel announced on 9 October that an agent can now use the Vercel CLI to buy a domain. The workflow runs through four commands: vercel domains search to find candidates, vercel domains check and vercel domains price to confirm availability and cost, then vercel domains buy to start the purchase.

vercel domains search
vercel domains check <domain>
vercel domains price <domain>
vercel domains buy <domain>

The detail that matters is what happens when buy runs without a terminal attached. Rather than completing the purchase, it returns a structured, machine-readable error along with the suggested next commands, handing the confirmation back to a person instead of letting the agent spend money unsupervised. Vercel also says the CLI ships an “agent-facing skill” covering the full discovery-to-purchase sequence, so an agent follows the right steps without being told them individually.

Why it matters: if you’re wiring an agent into infrastructure that costs real money, provisioning a domain, a database, a server, this is a concrete pattern for where to put the guardrail: automate the research and pricing, but require an explicit human confirmation before anything billable actually happens.
