Vercel Sandbox with Drives starts up to 2.4x faster
Median creation time for sandboxes that mount a Drive drops from 1.7 seconds to 0.7 seconds, with no SDK upgrade or config change needed.
Vercel Sandboxes that mount a Drive, its persistent storage option for sandboxes, now start faster. Median creation time dropped from 1.7 seconds to 0.7 seconds, and p95 fell from 2.2 seconds to 1.6 seconds.
The speedup applies automatically to every sandbox that uses Drives. There is no SDK upgrade or configuration change to make, and pricing stays the same.
Why it matters: if you’re running coding agents or other workloads that spin up a fresh sandbox per task and expect their files to persist between runs, cold-start latency has been a real cost. A sub-second median start makes that pattern cheaper to lean on for short-lived, frequent tasks.
