Microsoft ships six Azure Skills plugins for coding agents
A new Azure Skills marketplace lets GitHub Copilot CLI, Claude Code and Cursor install purpose-built plugins for AKS troubleshooting, cost management, Advisor and more.
Microsoft published six new plugins for its Azure Skills marketplace on 3 November, giving coding agents purpose-built tools for Azure work instead of generic prompts. Azure Cost handles cost analysis, estimation and budget guardrails, backed by the existing Azure Resource Manager MCP server. AKS Skills investigates live Kubernetes incidents and troubleshoots GPU and KAITO workloads. Azure Advisor turns its own recommendations into remediation steps. The rest cover Kusto graph queries, Azure Local deployments and Foundry IQ knowledge bases.
They install the way any other agent plugin does. In GitHub Copilot CLI, Claude Code or Cursor, add the marketplace once, then install whichever ones you need:
/plugin marketplace add microsoft/azure-skills
/plugin install azure-cost@azure-skills
Each plugin’s README lists its own supported clients and required credentials, and Microsoft notes some, like multi-rack Azure Local support, are still in preview.
Why it matters: if you already point a coding agent at Azure infrastructure, you get specialised AKS or cost-management behaviour as a one-line install rather than a hand-written prompt or a raw MCP call. It is also a sign that cloud vendors are now building agent-facing tooling as a first-class surface, not an afterthought bolted onto a web console.
