Google makes Gemini 4 Argon generally available with 1M-token context

Argon leaves limited preview for the paid API, AI Studio, Antigravity and Gemini for Business, with introductory pricing that doubles on 30 November.

Google made Gemini 4 Argon generally available on 13 October, moving its flagship model out of the limited preview it had run since late September. It’s now live on the paid Gemini API through AI Studio and Android Studio, in Google Antigravity for AI Ultra subscribers, inside the Gemini app and AI Mode in Search for Ultra and Pro users, and for Gemini for Business customers.

Argon supports a 1 million token unified input-output limit through the API, and Google says it ranks first on the Vals Index, which scores models on finance, coding, legal and tax tasks. Introductory API pricing is $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens, with a 95% discount on cached input. Google says that rate holds until 30 November, after which standard pricing of $4 and $20 per million tokens applies.

Why it matters: if you’re building against Argon, the discount window has a hard end date. Benchmark it now while the API is cheap, and budget for double the cost from December.

The caveat: the Vals Index ranking is Google’s own claim; independent benchmarks haven’t caught up yet.
