Mistral deprecates Medium 3.5 and Large 3 today, retires them in April

Seven Mistral API models, including Medium 3.5 and Large 3, move to deprecated status on 31 October 2026 and stop working on 30 April 2027.

Mistral’s model overview page lists seven models as deprecated from today, 31 October 2026, with retirement set for 30 April 2027. That covers mistral-medium-3-5 (Medium 3.5) and mistral-large-2512 (Large 3), both pointed to Large 4 as the replacement, plus Voxtral TTS, Voxtral Mini Transcribe 2, Voxtral Mini Transcribe Realtime, OCR 4.0 and Z.ai GLM 5.2, each with its own named successor.

Deprecated models keep working for the six months until retirement, so nothing breaks today. But Mistral has already pulled the listed prices for Medium 3.5 and Large 3 from its pricing table.

Why it matters: if you’ve pinned a model ID in code or an environment variable, this is the window to migrate before the forced cutover in April. Large 4 is the newer model in every case, not a like-for-like swap, so it’s worth rerunning your evals rather than assuming parity.

The caveat: Mistral hasn’t published a blog post or changelog entry for this, only the model table itself. There’s no explanation of what changes in behaviour or cost beyond the model name.
