Stripe ships APIs for sending money out, not just taking it
New Payout Intents, Outbound Payments and Recipient Verifications endpoints let you quote FX, verify a recipient and track a payout across ACH, SEPA, SWIFT and more.
Stripe’s 28 October API release adds three new endpoints to the Money Management resource group in API v2: Payout Intents, Outbound Payments and Recipient Verifications. Together they cover sending money from a Stripe financial account out to someone else, rather than Stripe’s usual job of taking a payment in.
A Payout Intent lets you preview FX rates and fees, schedule a payout and require confirmation before funds move. Outbound Payments then tracks that payment through its lifecycle, with webhook events for created, posted, returned, failed and under review. Recipient Verifications checks a payee’s details first, supporting Confirmation of Payee for UK payouts and Verification of Payee for intra-EU ones. Supported rails are ACH, Fedwire, FPS, SEPA, SWIFT and RTP.

Why it matters: if you’re building a marketplace, payroll tool or any product that pays people out rather than just charging them, this is a more complete flow than stitching the older v1 Treasury OutboundPayments API together yourself. Recipient verification before a payout also gives you a way to catch a wrong account number before the money leaves, not after.
The caveat: this is a new API surface, not a replacement for existing Payouts. Moving to it means picking up API version 2026-10-28.endive and testing your integration against it, including any Connect flows.
